ABOUT ME
I originally trained as a dancer before specialising in dance science and later dance psychology. After completing my Master’s and PhD degrees, I worked as a Senior Dance Lecturer in Higher Education for over 15 years. I have been involved in everything from course leadership and curriculum design to mentoring and PhD supervision to lecturing and research.
My passion is to help dancers - at any stage of their dance journey - to enhance their psychological wellbeing and mental health using both science-backed strategies and dance-specific research knowledge. I want to demystify psychology and make it more accessible, by offering a range of resources designed to help dancers develop the skills they need to thrive, on and off stage. I have worked with individuals, schools and companies to support dancers, combining my psychology research and training with knowledge of dance training and the industry. You can see some of the organisations I have worked with in the banner below.

My other passion is research. I believe in the power of research to make a difference, which has led me to focus on research that contributes to social justice. Recent projects have included racial equity in dance, barriers to employment and progression for disabled dance artists, and the role of dance in the lives of older adults. All of my research is underpinned by psychology, because it helps me to fundamentally understand the relationship between individuals and their social environments.
